How can counselling help?

Counselling offers you a safe space for you to share and explore your experiences so you can begin your journey of self-discovery. As your counsellor, I will listen with warm empathy and compassion, offering you a fresh perspective of your challenges so you can better understand your thoughts, feelings and emotions.

What is Pluralistic Counselling?

Pluralistic Counselling recognises the value of other therapeutic approaches to help you make sense of the challenges you are facing. It engages you, the client, in a shared decision-making process about the approaches that you would like to try, combining methods from different approaches into a coherent whole. This means that you are at the helm of your own therapeutic journey, both in the decision making process and the ways that we work together.

Understanding Your Nervous System with Polyvagal Theory

Polyvagal theory explains how your nervous system influences your emotions and well-being. Feeling safe? Connected? That's ideal. But stress can trigger a fight-or-flight or even a shutdown response. In therapy, we use polyvagal-informed techniques to bring your nervous system back into balance,

promoting a sense of calm and resilience for better mental health.

Working with me

My training and style is to work with you to understand the challenges you face and help you find the solutions you are looking for. I want you to be able to manage and live a healthier life with good mental health. I am Pluralistically trained and Polyvagal informed, so this is the approach I will use with you. This means I have the skills to adapt to your individual needs and I work to the standards set out by The national Counselling & Phsycotherapy Society found here

I offer a safe and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, and I'll work alongside you to help you find your way back to a balanced and fulfilling life.I believe that everyone has the potential to live a happy and fulfilling life, and I'm committed to helping you reach your full potential.

I offer a unified approach to counselling, which means that I work alongside you as a partner in your journey to self-discovery. I'll never tell you what to do, but I will offer support, guidance, and encouragement as you work to understand yourself better and make positive changes in your life.

You are the expert in you, I aim to work using the style and technique that you feel works best, from deciding on in person or online, indoors or outdoors. Person centred therapy only or including Hypnotherapy, Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Mindfulness or other modalities. I can also help by using Safe and sound Protocol which is a therapeutic tool designed to reset the nervous system and return it to safety.

When we work together, I can draw on a range of approaches to help you make sense of your emotions and understand yourself better. I can draw upon:

CBT

REBT

Psychodynamics

Psychoanalytic

Polyvagal Theory

Mindfulness and more

About Me

I started my journey to becoming a counsellor and safe and sound practitioner when I was working in management at an IT company where I received training in coaching and mentoring and became qualified to deliver both. I realised that I was happy and more skilled in helping with the personal side of development and not the business side.

I took a Open University course on Social Sciences and from there decided that working with individuals to help was where I felt most suited and started my Counselling training to become a Psychotherapeutic counsellor working in a Pluralistic style in the summer of 2018 and qualified July 2022, as part of this course I also became a qualified Hypnotherapist.

I am accredited with The National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society and The National Hypnotherapy Society and abide by the Code of Conduct for both. I have further developed my training by learning the Polyvagal theory and becoming a certified practitioner in the Safe and Sound Protocol. As part of my training, I worked at Colmers Secondary School for over a year and with Northamptonshire Mind and continued volunteering after training covering over 2 years.
